Things You Probably Didn’t Know
It’s one of humanity’s oldest medicines.
Elderberry has been used since prehistoric times. Hippocrates referred to it as his “medicine chest,” and Indigenous communities used nearly every part of the plant for food and healing.
It produces serious volume.
A single mature shrub can yield 12 to 15 pounds of berries per season, making it one of the most productive edible native plants you can grow.
The stems are naturally hollow.
Elderberry stems have been used for centuries to make flutes, blowguns, and syrup spouts. Their hollow structure made them uniquely useful across cultures.
You get two harvests from one plant.
Elderflowers are harvested early for cordials, teas, and culinary uses, while the berries that follow later in the season provide a second, completely different yield.

FAQ
FAQ
Do you pre-stratify the seeds?
Most of our seeds are not pre-stratified. We ship them unstratified so you can control germination timing based on your local growing season. We sell to all 50 U.S. states and Canadian provinces, and since each region has different planting windows, pre-stratifying would risk seeds germinating in transit or before you're ready to plant.
True stratification requires cold, moist conditions, which can lead to premature sprouting or mold if not timed properly. To avoid this, we store most seeds in dry cold conditions to preserve viability — but this does not initiate stratification.
Do any of your seeds need to stay moist? (Recalcitrant seeds)
Yes — some species we offer are recalcitrant, meaning they must remain moist to stay viable and cannot be dried out. Examples include: Chestnut, Hazelnut, Paw Paw, etc.
These seeds are shipped in moist cold storage and are clearly labeled on the product page when applicable. Please refrigerate immediately upon arrival and follow included care instructions.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently ship to the United States and Canada only. Unfortunately, we cannot ship to other countries without a phytosanitary certificate, which is required by most international customs agencies.
If you're interested in shipping outside North America, please contact us. Note that a phytosanitary certificate typically adds $60–$80 USD per seed type and must be arranged in advance.

My brother and I love elderberries. I will be happy to see them on my harbor next year.
I planted the seeds in great soil. They haven't grown as of yet & it's been a few weeks.
Very fast service and
loved the extra!
Came as described. Very well packaged. I couldn’t believe a plant that size was shipped with no damages. But it was. I would have liked to seen some instructions on lighting and weather for the plant with it. But I guess that’s why we have google now. 😊. But we’ll packaged very impressed.
Excellent packaging with seeds clearly identified. Some other nurseries don't even bother labeling the seeds.
Good product - now to see if they sprout.
